Ivy House Michigan Spring Wedding | Kelsey & Dennis

Updated: Jun 1

Kelsey and Dennis were married at the beautiful Ivy House in Saugatuck this past Saturday. Their day began somewhat rainy, but just before Kelsey walked down the aisle the clouds cleared and the rain faded away making for a perfect spring day!

Ivy House is a new venue that opened it's doors in 2022 and features a gorgeous greenhouse for ceremonies and an air conditioned reception room with high ceilings and a large bar area. We were beyond happy to finally photograph there as we had toured the venue about a year ago and fell in love with it!

When we arrived to Ivy House the air smelled fresh with rain and apple blossoms. We meet up with Kelsey who was getting ready in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids, mother, and mother in law to begin capturing her special day with all the elegant details! Invitations by Truly Engaging were so gorgeous!

Kelsey wore a stunning modern lace dress from The Dress Shop in Howell, MI and her bridesmaids wore pretty dusty rose colored wrap dresses that were so flattering. Their flowers were white, peach, coral and a touch of light blue made by the very talented Brooke Tofilon at De La Terre. Perfect for spring! Dennis wore a light blue suit from Von Maur with a tan vest and tie, as did his groomsmen. Very dapper!

One of the most special parts of the day was the gift giving. Kelsey had gotten gifts for her mother and mother in law and wrote them both heartfelt letters which was so sweet. Dennis and Kelsey had gotten each other gifts as well. We took them both separately into the ceremony area which is held in the greenhouse to open their gifts and capture the emotion. We also learned that Dennis was planning the honeymoon and that the destination was a surprise for Kelsey! So exciting!

Their ceremony was held in the greenhouse of course! There were string lights hanging from the roof with wooden, white washed chairs and a beautiful floral chandelier that hung above the couple. Their ceremony was short and sweet and at the end when they kissed the guests went crazy with excitement! Such a beautiful moment. The walk back after the 'I Do' is always my favorite part!

The reception was beautiful and the dinner that was catered by YoChef was delicious! They had salmon, steak, and champagne chicken with asparagus, mashed potatoes and Macaroni and cheese with cheesecake bites for dessert. Sooo good!

After dinner the dances began. Dennis danced with his mother first followed by Kelsey dancing with her father next. Then Kelsey and Dennis took to the dance floor. There was a moment when they were dancing when Kelsey looked at Dennis in such a way that it almost took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. It was the look of pure admiration and love. These two were so amazing to watch together! So much love! Tyler from The Bee Entertainment had everyone dancing their butts off for the rest of the night!

We ended the night with golden hour photos on the patio with twinkling string lights then we went into the greenhouse where the sun illuminated the whole room. It looked unbelievably romantic!

We then waited a bit longer for the sun to go down to bring our spot light into the greenhouse to see what kind of magic we could make! We put the spot light just inside the greenhouse doors and had Kelsey and Dennis stand just outside the opening of the greenhouse. The spot light lit up the greenhouse and outlined the couple perfectly. It was magical. Just like the day had been... Magic.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Howe! Thank you so much for sharing your unforgettable day with us and we wish you nothing but the best for your future together!
